If you own your home you can receive free information about reverse mortgages by calling AARP at: 1-800-209-8085, toll-free and they will tell you the steps how to proceed.

1st you need to decide if a reverse is for you or not. I got a FHA HECM reverse mortgage then you have to get HUD approval, and submit an application. There are several steps that you have to go through. From when I started to when I finally ended it took approximately 5 weeks for me to get my loan completed.
